Meanwhile, Tacita Dean’s installation at Tate Britain’s Turbine Hall (aptly called, er, Film) is basically a homage to celluloid. So it seemed like the right time to speak to Panavision, as well as film-makers themselves, to see whether film was indeed dying – and if it is, what difference that might make to the movies we watch.
