>>Rashid Rana is the star of the show at the Asia Triennial Manchester, and the Pakistani artist deserves such attention. After really enjoying this retrospective, I spoke to him as he travelled back to his homeland, praise ringing in his ears. The stand-out piece, Desperately Seeking Paradise, is one of the best artworks I’ve seen all year – a cube which depicts both a skyscraper-laden cityscape and thousands of tiny pictures of small houses in Lahore.
“My interest in these structures comes from my fascination with the thought that workers recruited from Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and so on build these mega structures.”
