Over the past 50 years, publishing house Gollancz has been responsible for some of the most exciting, groundbreaking and best-selling science fiction and fantasy writing, everything from JG Ballard to Philip K Dick. To mark their anniversary, I spoke to Gollancz editor Marcus Gipps about why science fiction is becoming increasingly influential.

“What’s interesting is how many established authors do ‘dabble’, for want of a better word, in science fiction. Look at Will Self, Margaret Atwood or Cormac McCarthy.”
